Pre-Trip Preparation Checklist

Your passport must be valid for at least six months beyond your intended departure date from Vietnam and have at least two blank pages for stamps.

Ensure you have the correct visa type for your trip (Visa-Free, E-visa, or Visa on Arrival). Double-check requirements for your specific nationality well in advance.

  • Declare cash over $5,000 USD or 15 million VND.
  • Do not bring prohibited items (weapons, narcotics, pornography).
  • Respect duty-free limits on alcohol and tobacco.
  • Declare gold over 300g and valuable non-personal items.

While not mandatory, comprehensive travel insurance is highly recommended to cover medical emergencies, trip cancellations, or lost luggage.

Have some Vietnamese Dong (VND) on hand for initial expenses like taxis or food. For VOA, you must have USD or VND cash for the stamping fee as ATMs are not available in the visa area.
